You've worked for someone else for twenty years or more.

You're done with it.

But you can't just walk away.

So you build the way out first: faceless YouTube channels, started on the side and grown in the hours you have, until they can do what your salary does. No face, no name, no hype and no promises. Just the work, in the order you'd actually do it.

Jack, The Long Resignation's AI presenter, at a desk in a home study

Jack, The Long Resignation's AI presenter. On the channel he tells this story for me. His face and voice are AI-generated. The man behind them is real, and so are the numbers.

Why this book exists

That was me.

I spent decades as an executive running businesses. I was paid a lot of money, and I made them a lot more. And I burned out. Long hours, travel away from my family, and most days spent putting out fires. At fifty I started to see what it was doing to my health and to the people at home.

I didn't want another job. Another job is the same chair with a different logo on the door. I wanted something that would fund me to leave, cover the bills, and keep paying.

What I found was faceless YouTube. I started during covid, on the side, still in the job. For six months not much happened. Then one video took off and got the channel monetised inside a week, and I finally understood what I was building: online real estate. Every video is a property, and YouTube pays rent on it for as long as people keep watching.

I built five channels before I left. At fifty I walked out, and I've never gone back. I run several more channels now.

This book is the method, in the order you'd actually do it.

What you'll be able to do

  1. Work out what a channel can earn. How YouTube pays, what RPM really means, and how to run the numbers on any idea.
  2. Work out what it takes to match a salary. The views, videos and channels it would take, with your own figures.
  3. Pick a subject that pays. And check it against real channels before you make a single video.
  4. Make faceless videos with AI.Every step from idea to upload, fitted around your evenings.
  5. Make videos people click and watch.Titles, thumbnails and the first 30 seconds.
  6. Get through the first six months. What to publish, which numbers matter, and when to keep, change or drop a channel.
  7. Grow from one channel to several. When to start the next one, and how to build a pipeline.
  8. Run it around a demanding job.A weekly routine that survives bad weeks, and staying anonymous.

Shown, not promised

Every chapter shows the work on real faceless channels, straight from YouTube Studio, with the names removed. This is chapter 11: the same channel's opening, before and after the fix.

Before
YouTube Studio retention graph, before

50% of viewers still watching at around 0:30. YouTube Studio labels it "below typical".

After
YouTube Studio retention graph, after

76% still watching at around 0:30, and above the typical band for most of the video.

No income promises. Figures in the book come from specific channels at specific times. They show how the method works, not what you will earn.
